Printing a String in 8086 Assembly Language

Image
Introduction      Many universities require us to take Computer Architecture as part of the requirements of a computer-related course.  One of the best ways to learn the architecture and organization of the computer is dive into the low-level design.  As part of the architecture, we deal with ISA or the Instruction Set Architecture.  What better way to learn this than Assembly Language!     In this blog post, I will discuss how to display string in 8086 Assembly Language so prepare your emulator and start coding. I will be using service 09 of the DOS INT 21h.  For those who are new in Assembly Language, service 09 is a request from the operating system's list of basic tasks.  When you invoke (or use) this service, you are asking the OS to print something.  INT 21h on the other hand is an interrupt.  It causes your main program to pause (or be interrupted) and let the system jump to another code (of the OS's) as specified by the service.  It is like saying "go, execute th

PLUMERIA - A RESORT IN THE MAKING

Summer has started and at least you should have checked by now where to unwind.  A few days before April 2016, I was able to spend a night in one of the new resorts in Agno Pangasinan. This is not my first time to visit the place but it is my first time to see the new face of PLUMERIA, now - as a resort.  It used to be a rest house with a simple bamboo house. As of this writing, PLUMERIA has now a house for rent (first image).  The right side has  two bed rooms, a kitchen, a sala, a veranda and of course comfort rooms.  Adjacent to the house are two more smaller rooms perfect for a couple up to a group of 4.  The good news is PLUMERIA is not yet that strict (as of this writing) when it comes to number of guests per room. In fact, they are willing to adjust the price of the rooms depending on the number of guests. All their rooms are air-conditioned.   They also have a bamboo house with two fan rooms, its veranda is over looking the beach and near the

Day 1-May 29, 2015: Clarkfield Pampanga to Hong Kong We woke up 2:00 AM to prepare because we instructed the receptionist last night to arrange a taxi for us at 3:30 AM. From my researches, you should be 3-4 hours earlier than your flight to give way for the long queue in the immigration interview. However, when we arrived at Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, the guard told us that check in starts @ 4:30 AM. That is 1:30 hours waste of time. Quick tip: Pay the travel tax PhP 1,620.00 before checking in so they can give your boarding pass right away. After which, go to immigration & pay PhP 600.00 for terminal and security fee and fill up the form before your short interview. We boarded 10 mins earlier than our scheduled flight. Yippee! Route: Baguio Victory Liner PNR Terminal bound for Sampaloc because it will have a stop over at Dau Terminal - Php 306.00 (May 2015)  If from Dau, there is a shuttle going to airport, just ask for it from any of the vendors around
